For 2xTuffz by TheJenjineer For 2xTuffz by TheJenjineer
It was my friend ~2xTuffz's Birthday the other day, and she asked for a drawing of a fairy. I didn't feel very good about giving someone I knew as a friend in real life just a drawing, so I sat down in front of my computer and said this is gonna be the best thing I've ever drawn. EVER. I think I did it. :)

This is gorgeous! My mam is a BIG fan of fairies as is my best friend! I love the colour scheme and execution used in the drawing. Really lovely!

That's absolutely GORGEOUS!!! :omg:

AMAZING work...! :wow:

They look so sweet! :aww:

I love the colors and expressions--and the poses, they're so dynamic and natural feeling! I love their wings and the butterflies, truly everything about this is beautiful...I like their costume designs--especially for the fairy on the right. Her crown of ivy just really appeals to me. =) The parchment look to it is so STYLISH! I've been thinking about how to create a parchment effect--I think I'll see if I can convert that technique into one for the GIMP. (With a bit of tweaking, I may be able to do something similar.)

That's such a wonderful picture...

Thank you! :thanks:
Yeah, the parchment is definitely what tied this picture together. The tutorial I used is this one: [link] The poses and ivy crown credit has to go the stock artists though, it's so nice of them to put stuff like this online for everyone to use. :)

Looks fantastic! I love the poses and expressions, it almost looks like an illustration for a children's book. :D

You did a great job integrating the parchment too; thanks for giving it a try. >w<

Wow, that's utterly lovely! Those wings have especially caught my eye. They are so detailed and have this realistic feeling. I also have to say, the references you used barely show up here; they have their own life, that you helped to breath into them.

The color is also subdued, to match with the parchment-like background I assume. It makes it seem almost more quiet than your other pictures, and I say that in a good way. It makes it stand out.

It almost reminds me of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the fairy photographs that would take hold of him in his last years. They have that old-time feel to them is all I suppose.

And the butterflies add just the right dash of color so the piece doesn't feel overly muted! Overall, great composition.

And great drawing to boot. ;)

Thank you! "Utterly lovely", those are definitely on my words I like hearing list. Second only to "Would you like some chocolate?" ;p
The references helped a lot. I think my anatomy looks better here than any other drawing I attempted. DA has some really awesome stock artists. :)

I'm sorry. I almost never have a supply of chocolate. But complimenting good art is something I can, and shall, do!

References can be a big help, or so I hear. But I like that these don't look like they are just clones of those references. It makes them a bit more unique and special looking than if they were straight copies. At least, to my eyes.

That's pretty nice, thanks! Yeah, I never liked going for straight copies of something, I always think to myself "But that's what cameras are for!" ^^;

For the favorite and the nice comment! :)
It only occurred to me to add a butterflies everywhere when I realized one fairy needed something to hold and the other needed something to talk about. =p
